LAST CHANCE FOR BRAZILIAN TO DETHRONE PHELPS
Thiago Pereira is searching for his first Olympic gold medal as he takes on Michael Phelps in the 200m medley at 11:01pm. The Brazilian athlete with the largest Pan American Games medal haul, Pereira beat Phelps to silver in London 2012. Qualifying with the third fastest time overall, he'll need to go faster by at least one second if he is to beat the American.

China will take home gold and silver in the men's table tennis finals.
World No. 1 Ma Long is about to face London 2012 champion Zhang Jike at Riocentro Pavillion 3.
Ma beat Japan's Jun Mizutani 4-2 in the first best-of-seven semi-final. In the other semi-final, Zhang, whose first name was inspired by Brazilian soccer star Zico, beat Vladimir Samsonov, a former world No. 1 from Belarus, 4-1.
China has 25 medals so far at Rio 2016. They are second in the overall tally with 10 gold, six silver and nine bronze medals.

MEDAL ALERT: FIJI WINS HISTORIC GOLD
On the impressive power of their fluid and crafty men's rugby sevens team, Fiji has won its first Olympic medal in the country's history. The gold came on a 43-7 rout of Great Britain at Deodoro Stadium.
Team captain Osea Kolinisau, who is pictured scoring below, scored a try and two conversions.
