JAPAN TAKE GYMNASTICS GOLD!
A sublime performance on the horizontal bar in the final rotation by defending champion Kohei Uchimura has edged him ahead of Oleg Verniaiev to secure all-around gold for Japan. Verniaiev, who had led with one rotation remaining, celebrated after his own bar routine as if he believed he had clinched the title. The judges disagreed. Great Britain's Max Whitlock takes bronze.

GREAT BRITAIN 5 ARGENTINA 0: ANOTHER NAIL-BITER AT DEODORO STADIUM
A golden try was the only thing separating Great Britain and Argentina at the end of their rugby sevens quarter-final match. After 14 minutes, the sides were tied at zero, with neither looking as though they might break the deadlock.

A sin bin a piece did not change anything.

The match, which was plagued by knock-ons and penalties, had to wait until extra time for something special. A surge of energy from Dan Bibby broke the Argentinian line and gifted Great Britain the elusive golden try that has sent them to the semi-finals.

TUNE IN NOW: UKRAINIAN LEADS IN MEN'S GYMNASTICS FINAL

Five rotations down, one to go in the men's all-around gymanstics final. Oleg Verniaiev is ahead, with Japan's Kohei Uchimura second and Great Britan's Max Whitlock third. Follow the climax.

TENNIS HIT BY WEATHER

Unfortunately, Wednesday's tennis matches involving Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, among others, have been postponed due to the weather. Full details can be found below.

RAFAELA SILVA WELCOMES THE CHANGE IN MEDIA COVERAGE
Speaking at a press conference in the centre of Rio, Silva discussed racism with goalkeeper Aranha and Luislinda Valois, special secretary of policies for the promotion of racial equality.

The racism the Olympic champion suffered after her elimination at London 2012 is well documented. She recently told journalists "The monkey that they said had to be locked up in a cage in London is today an Olympic champion at home."

Today, she welcomed the positive media coverage of a black person. "Generally, coverage is always about black people who assaulted someone. I'm happy that this time round it's not about an assault but about my victory."

FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS CRASH OUT

While that Germany/Fiji match finished 10-0, the other game in group C was of greater significance. Republic of Korea's 1-0 win against Mexico means the London 2012 champions are out of the Olympic Games. Kwon Changhoon's goal 13 minutes from time proved the difference and sends the Asian side into the quarter-finals.

JAPAN DEFEAT FRANCE WITH LAST GASP TRY
Trailing for the majority of the game, Japan have managed to secure a semi-final spot after Teruya Goto found space to break free under the posts. Katsuyuki Sakai's conversion sealed the 12-7 victory.

NOT GOING SO WELL FOR FIJI IN THE FOOTBALL...
While the Pacific islanders' rugby sevens team is flourishing, their football team is not. Fiji are currently losing 10-0 to Germany in their group C clash, with Nils Petersen (below) bagging five goals. So far.

FIJI KNOCK OUT NEW ZEALAND
With improvisation and brute force, Fiji have knocked out the most dominant rugby nation in the world by a score of 12-7.

While the All Blacks only needed one more try to win the game, their desire never seemed to match that of the Fijians, whose performance can be summed up with the picture below...

BRITAIN CLAIMS FIRST EVER DIVING GOLD

Absolute scenes in the diving pool as British pair Jack Laugher and Chris Mears win the synchonised 3m springboard platform to secure Great Britain's first ever diving gold medal. They finish ahead of USA duo Sam Dorman and Mike Hixon, while Chinese pair Cao Yuan and Qin Kai take bronze.

PAINT IT GOLD

He's never been known for his athleticism particularly, but one man glued to the Rio 2016 action is legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. He has been especially enjoying the swimming, it seems.

DIVING CLIMAX
One dive to go in the men's synchronised 3m springboard final. British duo Jack Laugher and Chris Mears have a narrow lead...

TUNE IN NOW: MEN'S RUGBY QUARTER-FINALS
It's the battle of the South Pacific in the first game as group A winners Fiji take on the underperforming All Blacks.

WHITLOCK N ROLL

It's a good day for Team GB so far. Joe Clarke won kayak gold, their diving duo are in the medal hunt, judoka Sally Conway just won a bronze medal and, in the men's all-around gymnastics final, Max Whitlock is going great guns.

The 23-year-old was the leader after the first rotation at Rio Olympic Arena, although we're now into the second rotation and Japan's Kohei Uchimura has just edged ahead of him.

TUNE IN: 3M SPRINGBOARD
British divers Jack Laugher and Chris Mears are top of the leaderboard after round three.
