The bid to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is in fashion. On Saturday, the president of the Rio 2016 Bid Commission, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, was one of the speakers at the seminar, "The value of fashion," held at the Copacabana Fort. The meeting was part of the Rio Summer program, an international fashion event, where the campaign to make Rio a World Heritage site of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) was launched.

Rio Summer showed the best of summer and the carioca way of life in a meeting of business people, investors, and national and international stylists to spread the beach style of Rio de Janeiro and the way in which sport is linked to the beach and to the lives of Brazilians. "Beach volleyball, for example, was born on the sands of Copacabana and today is a global success. Sport is linked to fashion, sport is in fashion. It is the Rio 2016 bid's message to youth, of socialization and transformation that is not just for Rio de Janeiro. We want to plant this seed for the youth of the whole world," Nuzman said.

President of the Chamber of Commerce of Rio de Janeiro, Olavo Monteiro de Carvalho, attended the seminar and spoke about the strategic value of the Rio 2016 bid. "It is a project that has the support of all sectors of society, civil and business. The impact of the event in this city will be incomparable".

Following the seminar, Nuzman and the secretary general of the Rio 2016 bid, Carlos Roberto Osório, participated in the campaign to make the city of Rio de Janeiro a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event included the presence of Governor Sérgio Cabral; Rio's mayor-elect, Eduardo Paes; as well as business people, artists, politicians and journalists. "Rio unites natural beauty and a people that create a unique culture. As a result, it has all the conditions required to be a Heritage of Humanity site. The brand of the city would be even more valuable, as happened with the Rio 1992 Earth Summit, the 2007 Rio Pan American Games and with the choice of Rio as a candidate city for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games," Cabral said.
