Last Friday, the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games inaugurated three exhibitions at Casa Brasil, a green and yellow space at Somerset House, sitting between the Strand and the River Thames, in London: “From the Margin to the Edge: Brazilian Art and Design in the 21st Century”, “Passion and Transformation: a unique experience through sport” and “Brazil, the time is now!”.
In addition to the exhibitions, sports fans of Brazil and the Olympic and Paralympic Movements may visit the Rio 2016™ Boutique, where the first products bearing the brand of the first Games in South America are being presented.
The spaces will be open to the public from Saturday 21 July through 8 September, the day before the day of London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony, from 11.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m., except Thursdays, when they close at 9.00 p.m.
“Casa Brasil at London 2012 will be a spectacular occasion for us to promote Brazil’s cultural diversity, the Rio 2016™ Olympic and Paralympic Games and Brazilian sport”, said Carlos Arthur Nuzman, the President of Rio 2016™ and COB (the Brazilian Olympic Committee).
“We are proud of being able to enjoy this moment when the world will be in London for the Games and will be able to view Brazil’s best contemporary artistic and design expression. The works of our leading artists will be there to express our country’s vibrant culture”, he adds.
Besides promoting Brazil in the heart of the British capital, Casa Brasil will be a meeting point for visitors to experience the vibrant culture and creative energy for which Brazil is renowned. It will also be a space to promote networking and generate new businesses between Brazilian commercial, investment and tourism organisations and partners from across the globe.
