The Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games has been informed by its Security director, Luiz Fernando Correa, that the Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed a complaint requesting public legal action regarding his past administration as the national secretary of Public Security.

After presenting his defence case, prepared by the Federal Attorney General’s Office, and confident on a favourable ruling, Correa aims to seek compensation for image, moral and monetary damages from those directly and indirectly responsible.

Approximately 1,000 athletes and Carnival revellers on Sunday, February 12, took part in a 5.5km race that marked the reopening of the Sambodromo, stage of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival’s samba school parades and venue for the Archery events at the Rio 2016™ Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as the start and finish lines for the Olympic Marathon.

Rio 2016™ launches Olympic and Paralympic Games Licensing Programme

The Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games today launched the Games Licensing Programme during the 1st Rio 2016™ Licensing Meeting at Rio de Janeiro’s Modern Art Museum (MAM).

A total of 150 companies from several sectors (such as clothing manufacturers, toys, school supplies and apparel, and retail), interested in becoming licensees for manufacturing and selling official products of the Games, attended the event.

The new role of the Supply Chain area in companies and the alignment of the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games was the theme of the presentation of Fernando Cotrim, Head of the Procurement Area, at the 13^th Purchasing and Supply Chain Congress from the Institute for International Research held in São Paulo on 7-9 February.

The event gathered managers of the Supply Chainareas of big national and international companies and addressed the sector’s trends with presentations of successful cases.

The new Sambódromo, stage of Archery and the finish line of the Rio 2016™ Marathon, to be inaugurated this Sunday 12, had an illustrious guest last Wednesday. The legendary architect Oscar Niemeyer, responsible for the original project in the 80s, was hosted by the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, to walk along part of the “Samba Passageway” and see the refurbishment works which are about to be completed.

The Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games has announced that Nissan has become the automotive sponsor of the Rio 2016™ Olympic Games. The carmaker is now the Games’ fifth tier one partner and the sixth domestic sponsor overall.
